Support Night December: LGBTQ+ Allyship: Where to Begin

Dan Hemmer (member of PFLAG DuPage) outlines ways allies can be best supportive of those in the LGBTQ+ communities, especially around the holidays when family dynamics come into play.

  • Founded in 1973, PFLAG is an organization of LGBTQ+ people, parents, families, and allies who work together to create an equitable and inclusive world.

  • With nearly 400 chapters and 350,000 members in the U.S., you can find community, support, education and opportunities for advocacy with a local chapter and/or online via hybrid/virtual meetings.

  • Visit pflag.org/findachapter, or pflagillinois.org/chapters, to locate your nearest chapter.

  • PFLAG also offers unique intersectional support for LGBTQ+ people, and those who love them, in 4 online communities, which can be found at pflag.org/connects-communities.  The communities are Asian American/Pacific Islander; Black/African American; Latina/Latino and Military.
